Scarcity Ads: Real Urgency Ads That Kept Running
Short answer: a scarcity ad gives one reason to buy now – a deadline ('today only'), a stock limit ('while supplies last') or an event. 54 of the 473 ads in our library that ran 30+ days (11%) use wording like that, and they ran a median of 111 days against 106 for all ads. Below are 8 of them with the hook, offer and structure pulled out. Updated 28 Oct 2026.

“Tired of flimsy toys that don't last?”
Offer: 50% OFF TODAY ONLY!
Button: Shop now
Structure: Problem question → one product claim (built for tough chewers) → 'Don't miss out' → '50% OFF TODAY ONLY!' in the headline
The ad started on 3 Sep 2024 and was still live on 27 Oct 2026 with 'today only' in the headline. We cannot see whether the price changed day to day; to a viewer the line reads like a permanent discount label.

“Step up your lash game!”
Offer: Buy 1 Get 1 Free, today only!
Button: Shop now
Structure: Benefit opener (curl that lasts all day) → three ticked benefits → 'Buy 1 Get 1 Free, today only!' → brand line
A buy-one-get-one offer with a day limit: the deadline sits right next to the offer, not in a banner. The library shows the same wording running for 537 days.

“Be in control in your own neighborhood with the New K9Elite No-Pull Dog Harness.”
Offer: Limited Stock – Save $50 + a free tactical leash
Button: Shop now
Structure: Promise → four ticked features → guarantee + shipping → 'Limited Stock' + saving + free gift in the last line
Scarcity comes last, after the reasons to buy, and it is a stock limit instead of a date. A free gift next to it gives a second reason to act now.

“Keep your furry friend warm with this waterproof winter dog jacket”
Offer: Sale ends today – 50% off + 1 free leash
Button: Shop now
Structure: Product + season (winter coat) → four ticked features → 'SALE ENDS today!' → 50% off + free leash
The deadline is tied to the season: it started on 4 Nov 2025, right before winter. It was still live on 27 Oct 2026, so the same 'ends today' wording ran for almost a year.

“🚨 BLACK FRIDAY STARTS NOW!”
Offer: Up to 50% off – offer ends soon
Button: Shop now
Structure: Alarm emoji + event name → one benefit → 'Act fast while supplies last' → discount + 'Offer Ends Soon' + 4.9/5 rating
Uses all three: an event, a stock limit and an end date. Started 20 Nov 2025 and still live on 27 Oct 2026 in three copies.

“Dog owners need to see this 😳”
Offer: Sale ends today
Button: Shop now
Structure: Attention line → problem (no mental exercise) → bundle of 3 toys → 'Over 50,000 dogs are loving this' → 'Sale ends today'
Social proof comes first, the deadline second: '50,000 dogs' tells you it is popular, 'ends today' tells you to hurry.

“When your skin's dialed in, so are you.”
Offer: Limited Time Offer!
Button: Shop now
Structure: One-line promise → '1 product. 30 Seconds.' → 'Limited Time Offer!' → award + ingredient list
The deadline is one short line in the middle of the copy, with no date and no number – the weakest form of urgency here, and the ad still ran 245 days.

“Is your furry friend struggling with anxiety?”
Offer: Hurry! 70% OFF – ends soon
Button: Shop now
Structure: Pain question → product (calming bed) → gift line → 'Hurry! 70% OFF Ends Soon!'
One advertiser, Muddy Mat, accounts for 16 of the 54 urgency ads in our library, mostly 70% off offers with small changes in wording ('limited time', 'ends soon', 'don't miss'). Several versions of one offer side by side look like a test of which urgency line gets the click.

What these scarcity ads have in common
A scarcity ad (also called an urgency ad) tells the viewer that the chance to buy is limited – by time, by stock, or by an event. In the 54 ads we found, 49 use a time limit ('limited time', 'today only', 'ends soon', 'last chance') and 13 use a stock limit ('while supplies last', 'limited stock'); some use both. In the 8 below the urgency line comes after the reason to buy: first the problem or the promise, then the offer, then the deadline in the last line or in the headline under the video.
How It Works in 3 Easy Steps
No app to install. Everything runs in your mobile browser.
Pick the kind of urgency
Filter the examples by tag: a day limit ('today only'), a stock limit, an event, or a bonus that expires.
Open the original
Every card links to the ad in the Meta Ad Library, where you can see the start date and watch the video.
Fill in a true deadline
Copy a template and put in a date, a number or a bonus that is real – urgency you cannot back up costs you trust.

How the K9Elite ad is built

Our own breakdown of the ad's text, step by step – the order to copy for your own ad.
Does urgency wording make an ad last?
Not in this data. The 54 urgency ads ran a median of 111 days; all 473 ads ran a median of 106. That is a small gap, and the library does not show sales or spend, so it says nothing about whether the urgency made anyone buy.
What it does show: urgency wording can stay in an ad for a very long time. One ad says 'today only' and has been live since 3 Sep 2024. Another says 'sale ends today' and has run since 4 Nov 2025. We cannot see whether those offers really ended and restarted, so we do not call them fake – but a viewer who sees the same deadline for months will learn to ignore it.
Urgency that stays true
Three things keep a scarcity ad honest. Give a real end date with a time zone, not just 'today'. Use a stock number you can check, and say when it was checked. Tie the deadline to something that actually ends – a holiday, a delivery cutoff, a free gift that runs out. The templates below follow those three rules.
Platform rules and consumer law on fake countdowns and 'only X left' claims differ by country – check the rules of Meta and of the country you sell in before you run one.
Scarcity ads and the sale calendar
Most scarcity ads sit around sales. For the biggest event of the year see Black Friday ad copy, and for the weeks after it Christmas Facebook ads. To compare how another ad tactic is built, read us vs them ads. For product categories, the full skincare ad examples list shows more urgency ads in the wild, and the whole library is on the ad examples page.
Make the video for a scarcity ad
Every ad here is a video ad. If you have the product but no footage, the AI ad maker turns one product photo into a vertical 15-second ad – opening soon. To find more ads like these yourself, see the Foreplay alternative and BigSpy alternative comparisons.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before generating your video.
What is a scarcity ad?▼
An ad that gives one reason to buy now: a deadline ('today only', 'ends soon'), a stock limit ('while supplies last') or an event ('Black Friday starts now').
What is the difference between scarcity and urgency in ads?▼
Scarcity is about how much is left (stock, a limited run). Urgency is about how long you have (a deadline). Most ads in our library mix the two, for example 'Act fast while supplies last' next to 'Offer ends soon'.
How many long-running ads use urgency wording?▼
In our library, 54 of 473 ads that ran 30+ days (11%) contain at least one phrase from our urgency list ('limited time', 'today only', 'ends soon', 'while supplies last', 'last chance' and similar). Counted on 27 Oct 2026 from the text of each ad.
Can I use a countdown or 'only 3 left' in my ad?▼
Only if it is true when the viewer sees it. Rules differ by platform and country, so check Meta's ad policy and the consumer rules of the country you sell in.
Can I copy one of these ads?▼
Copy the structure with your own product, photos and offer. The original video, music and wording belong to the advertiser.
